Pursuant to SEC's long-term policy towards improving and developing its services to satisfy the needs of all its customers in all parts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and in response to different government policies and directives, the SEC Board of Directors, on 1st of March 2014, has approved SEC's new business unit called "Energy Trading and New Ventures" and nominated Mr. Osama A. Khawandanah as Senior Vice President for this business unit.  This new business unit aims to develop and establish new partnerships & IPP projects, and follow up their implementation,  manage commercial agreements for the sale and purchase of energy and fuel, create and develop internal relations, and to participate with the regulators for the development of the electricity market.

The Energy Trading and New Ventures business unit include three sectors composed of "Trading," "IPP & Renewable Energy," and "Fuel Supply & Agreements."

The "IPP & Renewable Energy" Sector's main objective is to plan, execute, and follow-up the development of private sector investments in IPP Projects, including bidding process, qualification, and selection of developers.
